Measurement of clamping force according to ČSN EN 12 453

Measurement of clamping force according to ČSN EN 12 453

To verify the safety of machinery, especially in the area of automatic gates, gates, windows, automatic barriers, service doors, we use measuring equipment to measure the permissible force in contact with these equipment and thereby verify that the device meets the limits of the clamping force at contact with operating personnel according to the ČSN EN 12453 standard.

Measurement methodology according to the ČSN EN 12445 standard

test device

For measurements, we use a professional KMG-T type measuring device, which is able to measure, record and graphically display all the values required by the standard

MeasurementMax. force
dynamic impact force≤ 400 N
static force in settling        ≤ 150 N
Dynamic force can act for a maximum of time< 0.75 s
Within 5s at the latest, the force must drop to 25N – the device must, for example, reverse≤ 25 N

Benefits of a solution

  Person Safety Verification

  • It determines whether the drive will stop or reverse the movement quickly enough.
  • Verifies that the maximum force does not exceed the limits set by EN 12453.
  • It controls not only peak strength, but also the time it is operating.

  Verifying the correct drive settings

  • Too high strength means the risk of injury.
  • Too low a force can cause unreliable operation (the door stops when wind or higher friction).
  • Measurement helps to find the right compromise between safety and functionality.
